Nur ein Wort: Leichtigkeit.
Neue ungehörte Töne, Holly, Du steigerst Dich immer noch, wann hört das denn auf? :-) Wir Menschen sind doch eigenartige Wesen.

That dulcimer really works. How long did it take you to learn to play it?

I said on your YT channel that you knocked Cindy Lauper off the top spot in my league of Carey covers. So I thought it would be interesting to listen to some of the others on YT. Found over 20 and none of those come anywhere close to yours. It's not just your singing and instrument playing that stand out. It’s also your production values. What becomes more and more apparent as I click my way round YT and listen to the work of others in the same field, who are starting out (or who have been going for quite a while), is that you are actually very special and in terms of:
singer (lovely voice);
songwriter (great words);
musician (so versatile);
video producer (editing is the art of film making);
who turns out a class act you are almost a YT one-off.
And I like writing in this blog because I can listen to you singing Carey whilst I type and I don’t run out of characters.

xenon, I just now stated on the video comments (YT) what I wanted to say yesterday. That I prefer Holly's version over the original. To each his own, right? lol

I have to say if I had heard this being played on the radio before I heard Holly sing it on YT today I would have sworn it was Joni singing. H has got the cadence of the song spot on. Listening to Joni sing it on the Blue album and H's version side by side I can tell the difference but the only things that really stand out are that Joni has backing singers, she pronounces Amsterdam slightly differently to Holly and Holly's has a slightly softer breathy quality (nice). Canadian accent versus English I guess. And as for "To each his own" - right on.

Yep. On YT comments, Rob stated that he had not heard the 'Joni' version. I had but have never been a big Joni fan. So, really, Holly's version is like the 'original' to me in my ignorance. The way I see things is that every cover Holly does is an original. Her original, lol. So far, there has been no instance of my preferring an original to Holly's cover. Amazing, but true. In fact, I do not even think about a comparison. When Holly does something, it is then hers (to me), and comparison is a moot point. There is no comparison anyway. Holly blows it all away!

There is something very special about Joni. I got the impression, that there are two Jonis on the stage (maybe even more) singing in a kind of timeshift against (with)each other.
Holly combines this technique with her own multiplication technique of parallelity, creating a multidimensional "universe" of music..., not only in the music layer also in the videographic one.

Hello everyone :)

Thankyou so much for your wonderful comments about the song. You're so kind. I'm in awe of Joni, she's such a wonderful artist - in every sense of the word.

When I do a cover it's sort of... me showing everyone how the song I'm covering makes me feel. If that makes sense. :-S Lol.

Thankyou so much for your lovely comments, you really are brilliant and I'm so glad that you enjoy my music/productions. :) xxxxxxx
